Before you start
- Your matches are not on our server, so deleting your account does not delete them. Your history lives on your own phone. To remove that, delete the app or clear its data.
- Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. The store bills you, not us — cancel there first, or you will keep being charged. Section 4.
- It cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no restore.
- You do not need an account to use Scorby. Scoring, history and statistics all work signed out — so deleting yours does not cost you the app.
Deleting from inside the app
This is the fastest route and it happens immediately.
Settings → Account → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm. Once you do, your account and the records attached to it are deleted from our server.
You stay signed out afterwards, and the app keeps working — scoring, your history and your statistics do not need an account.
Asking us to delete it
If you have already removed the app, or cannot get to that screen, write to info@scorby.app with the subject Delete my account.
Tell us the email address you signed in with — the one from Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. If you used Apple's Hide My Email, give us the relay address it created; that is what we hold.
We will confirm when it is done. We may need to check the request comes from the account holder before acting on it, which is a protection for you rather than an obstacle: it stops somebody else deleting your account by asking.
There is no charge for this, ever, and you do not need a subscription to ask.
What is removed
Deleting your account removes, from our server:
- Your sign-in record — the account itself, and the email address attached to it.
- Your player record — the display name other players saw in shared matches.
- Shared matches you started, including the point-by-point records held to keep every device in step.
- Any open invitations you had created.
This is not much, because not much is there. Scorby is built to work without a server: unless you deliberately start a shared match, nothing about your play reaches us at all.
Your subscription, which is separate
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, and neither does deleting the app. Apple and Google handle billing — we never take your payment and we cannot stop it. If you do not cancel in the store, renewals keep being charged.
| iPhone and Apple Watch | Android | |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel | Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Scorby | Google Play → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Scorby |
| Refund | reportaproblem.apple.com | Google Play refunds |
Cancel first, then delete. That order is easier — cancelling is done through the store account, not through Scorby, so it does not depend on your Scorby account existing.
What is not removed, and why
Your match history, because we never had it
Your matches are on your own phone and in your own backup — your iCloud on iPhone, your Google backup on Android. We cannot read them and cannot delete them; there is nothing of yours on our side to remove. To get rid of them, delete the app or clear its data, and remove the backup through your Apple or Google account settings.
Shared matches other players started
If you joined a match someone else began, that match is their record and deleting your account does not remove it. Your name may still appear in it. Ask us and we will remove your name from a shared match you took part in.
All shared match records are deleted automatically after about 90 days regardless.
On Android, the trial anchor — and this is a real limit
To stop one free trial becoming an endless series, Android installs send us a one-way hash of a device identifier, with the date the trial began. It is not linked to your account: the trial starts before you have signed in to anything, so deleting your account does not touch it.
You can ask us to delete it. But the hash can only be recomputed on the device it came from, so we need the request to come from that phone — and after a factory reset or a move to a new handset the old value cannot be recomputed at all, which means an anchor from a device you no longer have cannot be found and therefore cannot be deleted. That is a genuine limit and not a policy, and you should know about it rather than be told about a right that cannot always be exercised. Full detail in Privacy, section 8.
Server logs
Ordinary technical logs may hold a record of requests for a short period after deletion. They are a separate store with their own retention, described in Privacy, section 15.
Your other rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under the GDPR. You can also ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or object to a particular use.
All of these are free and none needs a subscription. Write to info@scorby.app. Privacy, section 16 sets out the full list, including your right to complain to the Cypriot Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.
